Back for the same issue of breaker tripping on the main floor. I isolated the wire from the panel to the disconnect, from the disconnect to the air handler and then the air handler itself. Using a megohmmeter I tested each component independently and found all wires and the air handler to be entirely free of shorts. I went through and remade and re-tightened all electrical connections both of the panel, the service disconnect, and the air handler and completely thoroughly tightened all connections. I ran tested the electric heat strips for 30 minutes without issue. Electric heat strips are 8 kW and drawing just under 33 A on a 45 amp breaker. The breaker did not trip at any point before during or after these tests. I also loosened the Romax wire staples in the crawlspace. If this issue persists, I recommend either replacing the line voltage wiring between the disconnect and the panel as well as the whip between the disconnect and the unit OR install a smaller electric heat strip kit.

Came out to your home today to look at performing some additional electrical work in your new home. Upon arrival we met with Matt and discussed the work he was looking to have done and priority level of each task. We discussed adding a floor outlet in the living room, replacing some existing ceiling fans and installing others in rooms where there is current no ceiling fan, replacing all the smoke detectors, and replacing the existing flood lights with flood motion lights. I designed multiple great solutions and Matt decided to go with my Basic solution of running the Ethernet line form the living room TV and replacing just the one chirping smoke detector. Everything was working properly upon completion. Thank you again for choosing Dawson’s Electric and Air.
