    How Dawson's Electric began

    Although my wife Nikki and I started Dawson's Electric in 2005, our passion for success, service and ambition came much earlier. I grew up in the construction field, where I helped my father in his masonry business during the hot North Carolina summers and assisted my stepfather by performing carpentry work all around the Triangle area. I also helped local tobacco farmers before heading off to football practice and bagged groceries during the chilly slow season. Managing such a hectic schedule from a young age allowed me to develop an extremely strong work ethic, influencing me to receive my degree in Industrial Technology, and giving me my first introduction to the Electrical Field.

    After gaining more experience in the industrial/commercial side of the field by working as an electrician in a local industrial facility building and wiring equipment with multiple voltages, I ultimately decided that I wanted to work for myself. As time went on, I began looking for additional independent electrical work on my days off in order to provide for a growing family, which at the time included two children and another on the way. Naturally,

    I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to inform my pregnant wife that I wanted to start an independent electrical business. After all, who needs job security, a steady paycheck, and health insurance when your wife is 7 months pregnant, right?

    Luckily, my wife was very supportive, and I started the business pulling around a 4×8 enclosed trailer with a 1993 Chevy pick-up truck. After a lot of hard work and many long hours of seeking out any potential work opportunities while Nikki was handling things behind the scenes, we began hiring our first employees! In 2015, we really started to build the electrical service department and grew quickly as people realized that we genuinely enjoyed the aspect of providing great customer service and working directly with our customers instead of through a general contractor. I soon became a licensed General Contractor and began to build a multitude of custom homes and renovations.

    The autonomy that comes with owning our own company gives us an opportunity to serve people and our community with the skills God has given us and a chance to offer honest solutions and options for our customers, and the ability to emphasize the importance of customer satisfaction when training our team.

    Dawson's Electric is our long-awaited opportunity to live out the American Dream we always strove for while growing up, and provides the perfect avenue to give our family a better life while actively giving back to the community. We grew up with good old-fashioned values that were learned from biblical principles, such as always treating people honestly and fairly.
