Local Electrical Services
Many components comprise your electrical system, from wiring to the panel and more. Because it can have a wide-ranging impact on your home, hiring an experienced electrician is important. We are Eaton Certified Contractors. We specialize in Eaton parts, but we also have the know-how to service all brands.
At Dawson's Electric & Air, we provide a comprehensive range of services:
Electrical Repair
Perhaps the most critical thing an electrician can do for you is electrical repair. The amount of electricity flowing into your home can cause significant problems if handled improperly. Bare or damaged wiring is a huge fire risk, as are hot or buzzing outlets. Surges can further damage components or ruin appliances and devices. Any electrical work can cause major shocks, so leave it to our professionals.
Electrical Panels
Electrical panels are what distribute the total power homes receive. If there’s more demand than it can handle, you’ll find broken fuses or tripped breakers. Older homes might have panels whose power is as low as 60 amps. Nowadays, 100 amps is the bare minimum. However, our continuing reliance on technology makes it a better idea to upgrade. For larger homes or homes that rely on a lot of electricity, 200 amps is ideal. If you find your breaker tripping constantly or your lights dimming randomly, your panel may be the issue.
EV Charger Installation
As electric vehicles (EVs) gain popularity, more areas have begun incorporating chargers in public parking lots, but this isn’t particularly convenient. Home outlets can usually charge EVs, but the rate is extremely slow, possibly taking up to 24 hours to achieve a full charge. Level 2 chargers fill your vehicle’s battery at a more reasonable pace, as quickly as four hours to go from empty to fully charged. However, you need an electrician to add one to your home. EV charger installation is best left to our Tesla Certified Installers at Dawson's Electric & Air.
Generators
In North Carolina, we’re no stranger to inclement weather and accidents causing power outages. Should the power go out at an inopportune time, you’ll be stuck in the dark with no heat or AC unless you have a backup generator. Portable generators may keep devices charged or maybe run your refrigerator, but whole-home generators can power your entire house, including all lights and the HVAC system. Plus, they switch automatically upon an outage occurring. We’re a Briggs and Stratton Dealer and Installer, but we also provide services for all brands.
Whole-Home Wiring and Rewiring
If you have an older house, your electrical system might need whole-home rewiring. Alternatively, you might be building a new home and need new wiring in the first place. Either way, having us install brand-new wiring can keep your home, appliances, and plugged-in devices safe. Our work is careful and code-compliant.
Lighting Installation
Changing the bulbs in your lighting fixtures is a simple task. Changing out those fixtures or installing new lighting is different. Installing pendant lighting requires accurate measurement, as does recessed lighting. Outdoor lighting has different requirements and needs to be much sturdier. Regardless of the type of lighting you need, Dawson's Electric & Air can take care of it.
