Responded to no cooling complaint on main floor unit. Upon arrival, discovered system had experienced electrical failure with reported popping sound, flashing, and smoke after breaker was cycled. Performed diagnostic testing using insulation resistance meter and capacitance testing with clamp meter. Testing revealed compromised compressor windings reading in the caution/bad range on megohm scale. Capacitor tested at 684.1 microfarads, indicating potential component failure. Electrical short or ground fault identified as root cause of the smoke and popping incident. System requires compressor replacement and thorough electrical inspection of associated components before restoration to service. Unit is currently inoperable and unsafe to energize until repairs are completed.

Responded to no cooling complaint on downstairs unit of a dual-system residential installation. Upon arrival, verified air handler operation with airflow present but no cooling delivery. Accessed exterior electrical disconnect panel serving both HVAC units and inspected circuit breakers for Unit #1 and Unit #2. Utilized Fieldpiece SC440 clamp meter to measure electrical parameters at outdoor condensing unit, recording readings of 102V and 70V, indicating low voltage supply to compressor. Diagnosed electrical supply issue preventing proper compressor operation, resulting in loss of cooling capacity while maintaining blower function.

Nick Rippeth showed up on time and kept me aware on his arrival time. Did a great job with his assessment and clearly provided me with my options. The panel upgrade was done professionally and on time. All and all I would hire Dawson and will ask for Nick. Thank you team including Amenda and Preston as well. Great job.

My experience with Jonathan Baker & Dawson’s Electric was wonderful from the initial phone call to the finished installation. They were our 2nd estimate for a Tesla charger install. Their price was about the same as the first estimate, but their professionalism was leagues beyond their competitor. My install required a little bit of rearranging in the breaker panel, so I was going to be paying a little extra no matter who I went with. Jonathan explained every step of the process and laid out crystal clear options and recommendations. I will definitely be calling Dawson’s for any future electrical work.
