Job Locations and Reviews
Responded to no-cooling complaint on 13-year-old multi-zone system serving second and third floors. Performed diagnostic inspection of air handler and outdoor condensing unit. Documented blower motor assembly, electrical connections, and capacitor condition. Observed corrosion and rust on outdoor unit components indicating age-related deterioration. Provided assessment for potential evaporator coil and compressor replacement based on system age and current operating condition.
Assessed installation requirements for adding a new exhaust fan in closet area for ventilation purposes. Coordinated with electrical contractor for new fan installation rather than replacement work. Documented existing conditions and measurements for proper equipment sizing and placement.
Responded to service call for installation of exhaust fan in closet area for litter box ventilation. Assessed existing electrical infrastructure including original main panel and secondary sub-panel serving home addition built in 1990. Evaluated ventilation requirements and determined appropriate circuit routing for new exhaust fan installation. Documented existing dual toggle switch configuration and wall conditions at proposed installation location. Provided customer with installation options including GFCI protection, weather-rated components, and fixture specifications with 5-year parts and craftsmanship guarantee.
Conducted site assessment and provided quote for multiple electrical upgrades in 2017-built residence. Verified structural support and existing electrical boxes at three ceiling fixture locations with 10-foot ceiling heights to confirm capability for customer-supplied ceiling fan installations. Installed data/communication sweep box in living room with concealed cable routing through walls for HDMI and ethernet connections to accommodate wall-mounted television installation. Installed dedicated GFCI-protected circuit in garage within code-compliant distance from main panel. Addressed kitchen outlet with mechanical resistance issue during plug insertion. All proposed work includes required permit fees and meets current electrical code requirements.
Replaced defective condenser unit under warranty coverage. Installed new condenser with proper refrigerant line connections, verified service valve operation, and confirmed system pressures using calibrated digital gauges. System tested and operating within manufacturer specifications with return air temperature readings documented at 33°F, indicating proper cooling cycle performance.
Completed full HVAC system installation including outdoor condensing unit and indoor controls. Installed new Honeywell Home smart thermostat with programmable features and digital display, mounted on interior wall with proper wiring connections. Set new outdoor air conditioning unit on level concrete pad against exterior wall, positioned unit for optimal airflow with adequate clearance from landscaping and structure. Verified all electrical connections, refrigerant lines, and drainage systems functioning properly. System tested and confirmed operational with proper temperature control capabilities.
Responded to no-cooling call and performed electrical diagnostics on AC system. Found 20 amp breaker tripping immediately even with AC unit disconnected from circuit, indicating a short or ground fault within the branch wiring rather than the equipment itself. Documented panel condition and wiring configuration with photos. Informed customer that issue requires licensed electrician to trace and repair the electrical fault in the circuit before AC service can be restored.
Responded to service call for hardwired smoke detectors on top floor that had alarmed twice without apparent cause. Inspected smoke detector units, confirmed power status via green LED indicator, and verified proper mounting and functionality. Advised that interconnected hardwired detectors may require further monitoring or potential replacement if nuisance alarms continue.
Responded to no cooling complaint on main floor unit. Upon arrival, discovered system had experienced electrical failure with reported popping sound, flashing, and smoke after breaker was cycled. Performed diagnostic testing using insulation resistance meter and capacitance testing with clamp meter. Testing revealed compromised compressor windings reading in the caution/bad range on megohm scale. Capacitor tested at 684.1 microfarads, indicating potential component failure. Electrical short or ground fault identified as root cause of the smoke and popping incident. System requires compressor replacement and thorough electrical inspection of associated components before restoration to service. Unit is currently inoperable and unsafe to energize until repairs are completed.
Responded to no cooling complaint on downstairs unit of a dual-system residential installation. Upon arrival, verified air handler operation with airflow present but no cooling delivery. Accessed exterior electrical disconnect panel serving both HVAC units and inspected circuit breakers for Unit #1 and Unit #2. Utilized Fieldpiece SC440 clamp meter to measure electrical parameters at outdoor condensing unit, recording readings of 102V and 70V, indicating low voltage supply to compressor. Diagnosed electrical supply issue preventing proper compressor operation, resulting in loss of cooling capacity while maintaining blower function.

Thorough job
Nick Rippeth showed up on time and kept me aware on his arrival time. Did a great job with his assessment and clearly provided me with my options. The panel upgrade was done professionally and on time. All and all I would hire Dawson and will ask for Nick. Thank you team including Amenda and Preston as well. Great job.
We had an excellent experience with Dawson’s Electric. The service couldn’t have been more professional. We are happy we hired them.
My experience with Jonathan Baker & Dawson’s Electric was wonderful from the initial phone call to the finished installation. They were our 2nd estimate for a Tesla charger install. Their price was about the same as the first estimate, but their professionalism was leagues beyond their competitor. My install required a little bit of rearranging in the breaker panel, so I was going to be paying a little extra no matter who I went with. Jonathan explained every step of the process and laid out crystal clear options and recommendations. I will definitely be calling Dawson’s for any future electrical work.
Quick, concise, great communication
